Digital   Digital retouching and manipulations available to correct flaws and achieve special effects
Film   Limited retouching and effects available unless customer has prints scanned - this would result in some loss of image quality on final retouched prints

Film   Final selected images would be made from proofs; negatives remain under the control of the photographer in most cases

Digital   No degradation in image quality with the passage of time
Film   Prints and negatives will degrade in quality with the passage of time

Film   Commercial colour output/copy labs will NOT copy conventional photographer's images

Film   To create a web site using film images would involve scanning of prints which is again a violation of the photographer's copyright

Digital   A review of the day's events could be shown at reception using a laptop and digital projector
Film   No review of the day's events at reception is possible

Digital   Photos can be sent and received by email anywhere in the world within minutes at no cost (other than your usual Internet access charges)
Film   To send images (prints) around the world, you would incur print costs, packaging, postage and of course the time delay factor

Digital   Artistic Licence - you can manipulate digital images yourself on your own computer
Film   No artistic licence - you are not allowed to copy photographer's images
